Toad-ally not what we needed

In a historic auction, a bidder shelled out $108,083 for Sir Isaac Newton's plague-fighting secrets – literally. The 17th-century manuscript, penned after Newton's own brush with the plague (he opted for self-quarantine), boasts some … unconventional remedies.

Want to ward off disease? Try Newton's patented lozenges made from toad vomit and powdered toad – a recipe that's, well, less than reassuring in today's pandemic era. Guess some things haven't aged well – but the price tag certainly did!

A blast from the past!
