Backstory
I was told that there is no official or widely recognized "Straight Pride Month" because Pride Month originates from the LGBTQ+ community's struggle for visibility, equality, and to protest discrimination and systemically enforced invisibility, a struggle heterosexual people do not face. Unlike the LGBTQ+ community, heterosexuals are not a historically marginalized group and therefore do not need a dedicated month for recognition and advocacy.
I say BS to that, but I could deal with the lecture ... to a point.
Then I read an article written on Mamba Online, penned by one of their unnamed writers on June 19, 2025, and it ticked me off.
It said, "Calls for “Straight Pride” typically don’t come from a place of joy or community. More often, they’re reactionary — a way to mock, minimize, or undermine queer celebrations. They ignore the reasons Pride exists in the first place and instead promote a false equivalency."
Well, some of us do have concerns regarding the promotion of homosexuality - it's not a malicious reaction. Concerns that include human genocide. Yes, if the entire planet was homosexual, the human race would be, well ... I'm pretty sure the rest is obvious. That example just grazes the surface of my questions. The rest is covered in The Real Man And The Outdated Heterosexual.
For now, let's focus on the Hot-Q.
And, remember, The Gray News celebrates freedom of choice, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech, so, please, don't be too sensitive.
