MIDRAND — In a move that has left NASA absolutely baffled, South African entertainment royalty Black Coffee and Bonang Matheba have announced a joint venture that will redefine both music and luxury exports: the "BNG Amapiano-1" rocket, which is set to launch from a repurposed parking lot at Mall of Africa in 2027.
Sources familiar with the situation (who requested anonymity because they were eating lunch) claim the pair are trying to establish the first licensed BNG sparkling wine bar on the moon.
"We have been exploring the next sonic boom," said a producer who allegedly spoke to Black Coffee while he was mixing a track in an airplane bathroom. "Amapiano music is the future. If we pump the bass high enough through subwoofers attached to the rocket’s hull, it will literally propel the rocket into the stratosphere. It’s all about frequency, darling."
A High-Fashion Space Odyssey
Bonang Matheba, never one to do things in halves, has reportedly designed custom designer space suits featuring heavy gold embroidery and built-in Champagne chillers. "It’s not just a mission, it’s a lifestyle," Queen B is rumored to have told an unsuspecting worker at the Sandton City dry cleaners. "We are bringing luxury to the final frontier. The moon needs to be a bit more sparkling."
Technical Glitches and "The Whistle"
The project, dubbed "operation ‘Amanation," has not been without its hiccups. During a test run at Nasrec Expo Centre last week, the rocket did not go up, but rather emitted a extremely loud Yanos log drum sound that caused all the milk in a 5km radius to turn into amasi instantly.
Controversy and Support
The plan has raised concerns from Joburg City Council regarding traffic congestion, particularly around Waterfall City, as thousands of fans are expected to bring foldable chairs to watch the launch.
However, many local celebrities have voiced their support. Somizi Mhlongo was seen browsing for "space-ready" sparkly jumpsuits, saying, "If anyone can make the moon look fashionable, it’s Bonang. I’ll be watching from the VIP tent at the parking garage!"
Launch Schedule
The BNG Amapiano-1 is scheduled to launch at 20:26 on 12 March, 2027.
Local really is lekker!
