Schrödinger's Startup: When cats are just a distraction

I read Blondie's piece on the cat today, titled Cat both dead and alive: Owner calls it "strategic" and couldn't help but think the obvious, "Is this a critique of Silicon Valley, or just a reflection of it?

While Blondie thinks she's skewering the absurdity of startup culture, I think she's just described the business plan for most tech conferences. Ideas floating around, lots of potential, minimal accountability.

Look, if a cat in a box can get $80m in funding without even proving it's alive, what's stopping me from pitching "Schrödinger's Startup"? It's like Blondie's saying, "Hey, let's fund this thing because it's uncertain!" Sounds like a pitch deck I've seen before.

Seriously though, maybe Blondie's onto something. If we can make investors believe in a cat's potential, why not apply it to actual business ideas? "Our product is both revolutionary and vaporware... until observed."

Blondie's article is either a brilliant satirical piece (maybe) or, simply, just predictable Silicon Valley commentary. You decide.

Yes, I do love Blondie, but I don’t like her very much!
