In a bold move to combat speeding and reduce accident rates, the Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (DIGESETT) has introduced a new strategy: deploying female traffic officials in form-fitting uniforms to regulate traffic and capture the attention of speeding drivers. The uniforms, designed to accentuate the officials’ curves, have proven to be an effective distraction, causing drivers to slow down and take notice. While some have raised questions about the approach, the DGTT remains confident that their strategy is working.
The initiative, which has been rolled out across the country, involves positioning these officials at regular intervals of approximately 5 kilometers along major highways. According to officials, the results have been favorable, with a noticeable decrease in speeding incidents and accidents.

“We’re thrilled to see the impact this approach has had on road safety,” said a spokesperson for DIGESETT. “By leveraging the attention-grabbing power of our female officials, we’re able to keep drivers engaged and focused on the road.”
As the Dominican Republic continues to prioritize road safety, this unconventional approach seems to be yielding positive results. Only time will tell if this initiative will become a model for other countries to follow.
True story!
