An extract from:
How-To Imagine The World If God Had A Wife

Now, the thunder boomed louder and the lightning flashed brighter.

What was happening in the heavenly realms above, behind closed doors, so to speak, was something that had never been revealed. Godiva had stood behind the Lord, carefully eavesdropping on His conversation with Moses, taking every word in and processing it thoroughly.

“Just ten commandments?” she asked her husband skeptically.

“Yes, my beloved,” he confirmed, “that is all I require.”

Her cheeks flushed a deep crimson, a shade so profound that mere mortals could never begin to comprehend its richness. “Ten laws? That’s it?” she snapped.

“What in the heavens do you mean?” the Lord asked, puzzled, His resonance now tinged with a hint of irritation. He didn’t appreciate others meddling in His affairs. And He didn’t like His divine plans second-guessed.

“Well, for example, what about things like respecting the environment?” she asked, her voice trailing off into a dozen unspoken questions. The Lord remained silent, His eyes locked onto hers, knowing she wasn’t done. “Protecting the planet that you created for them,” she continued, her words laced with concern.

“My beloved, they have been blessed with the freedom to choose,” He reassured her. “And with that freedom comes the capacity to understand the importance of such issues. The care of the planet is theirs to bear.”

She countered with a raised eyebrow, “Just as they’ve been given the freedom to murder or steal?”

The Lord’s response was measured. “Exactly,” He said. “But my laws must remain simple, a foundation for them to build upon. The rest will follow as they think and grow. Mankind is capable of great things.”

Godiva’s focus drifted, her mind racing with the implications. “And preserving their planet—your planet—isn’t that important?”

A gentle warning crept into His voice. “Do not place words in my mouth, my beloved.”

She submitted, though her attitude hinted at unresolved debate. “I’m just saying it would be beneficial for future generations.”

His response was cool. “Your suggestion is noted, but trust in my design. Everything is before them; they must figure it out.”

“But it just doesn’t …” she trailed off, her head shaking subtly.

The Lord swiftly cut in. “My decision is final.”

The Lord’s wife’s thoughts lingered on the periphery of His words. His finality was palpable, yet she pressed on. “And what about things like … like veganism, for example?”

His puzzled expression was almost endearing. “What about veganism?”

“I don’t understand why you can’t implement it as a law,” she said, her curiosity getting the better of her. “There are many aspects of these commandments we could have discussed.”

The Lord’s hands enveloped hers, warm and reassuring. “Godiva, trust in me, and me alone. Like all my creations, everything will unfold in time. Veganism will be a choice, not a law, with its own set of ramifications.”

Her eyes narrowed slightly. “Like what?”

“Many,” He replied, His voice soft but firm. “And I am not isolating veganism, but any straightforward concept or practice can devolve into extremism, which can be detrimental and pose risks.”

“I don’t understand, my dear,” she said genuinely.

“Certain things you will never understand, my beloved—neither will mankind, Yet, one thing remains constant: everything is done for a reason. I have planned everything to perfection, and the earth will endure for thousands of years to come.”
