LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - In 1965, a UFO-themed fundraiser for the local beatnik coffeehouse, "The Cosmic Eye", went down in flames last night when a real-life flying saucer crashed into the venue's parking lot.
Organizer, Swami Rama of the "Intergalactic Groove Council", had promised a "far-out" evening of space-age sounds and alien-inspired hors d'oeuvres. Instead, guests were treated to a genuine extraterrestrial visitor - a NASA test drone, mistakenly flown in from Edwards Air Force Base.
"It was like, whoa!" exclaimed partygoer and local poet, Janis Hart. "The saucer started spinning and beeping - it was like it was trying to join the jam session!"
LAPD officers rushed to cordon off the area, while NASA officials scrambled to retrieve their errant spacecraft. Meanwhile, Swami Rama declared the incident "totally karmic" and demanded the drone be allowed to "do its thing".
The Cosmic Eye's fundraiser was deemed a "total blast" by attendees, who vowed to return for the next intergalactic bash.
A blast from the past!
